Hot flashes are one of the symptoms of menopause. It is thought that a drop in the hormone estrogen causes them. Many women report that they feel heat mostly around their head, chest, neck, and shoulder area when experiencing them. Along with the unpleasant feeling of heat, some women also report nausea, rapid heartbeat, sweating and even a feeling of suffocation. While some misinformed persons, even doctors, have advised women that these reactions to a drop in estrogen are unavoidable, there are ways to naturally lessen the effects of menopause.
