Stretch marks are essentially a form of scarring on the skin caused due to the over-extension of the collagen fibers in the epidermis found just below the layer of the skin. These stretch marks which look like a thin red lines in the initial stages, eventually turn white as they heal. This skin condition not only effects pregnant women, but also adolescents undergoing rapid growth spurts, body builders or anyone who experiences rapid weight gain or weight loss.
