Fecundity rate for healthy couples is around 20 to 25% for each month. Pregnancy requires several factors: proper ovulation, normal sperm, parameters of an appropriate uterine cavity, at least one anatomically normal, properly functioning fallopian tube. Infertility is described as failure to achieve pregnancy despite unprotected and regular sexual intercourse for a year. This period can be longer for young couples. If woman age is > 35 or there is suspicion of a factor that could lead to infertility, infertility testing may be initiated earlier. Prevalence of infertility is around 10 to 15% for couples in Europe and U.S.A.
