The vagina has a natural odor unique among every woman. Smelly discharge or fishy vaginal odor is not in the spectrum of ‘normal’ vaginal conditions. This can be bacterial vaginosis. Bacterial vaginosis is a condition caused by a certain species of bacteria called Gardnerella vaginalis. They are normally present in the vagina and its overpopulation causes bacterial vaginosis.
